Taylor Swift won 8 awards in the the Billboard Music Awards including 2 highest honors of the night: Artist of the Year and Top Billboard 200 Artist. She was the big winner at the Billboard Music Awards held recently, sweeping the top all-genre categories and taking home eight awards. Taylor won Artist of the Year, Top Billboard 200 Artist (her second win in this category in three years), Top Female Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album (for RED), Top Country Artist, Top Country Album (for RED), and Top Country Song (for “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”). Photo above courtesy of billboard.tumblr.com.

Her New Single “Everything Has Changed” featuring Ed Sheeran set to be release on June 3, included in the album Red which was released last October 2012. RED has already sold more than 5.8 million copies worldwide, including 1.2 million in the U.S. in its first week of release, music’s biggest first-week sales number in more than a decade. Called “the slickest, smartest and just plain best mega-pop statement of our time” by Rolling Stone, and “sublime….required listening” by Entertainment Weekly, RED set a new worldwide iTunes record for highest ever first-week album sales, and reached #1 on iTunes and national sales charts in 50 countries around the globe.
With RED, Taylor became the first artist since the Beatles (and the only female artist in history) to log six or more weeks at #1 with three consecutive studio albums, and she is the only female artist in music history (and just the fourth artist ever) to twice have an album hit the 1 million first-week sales figure. Taylor is Billboard’s youngest-ever Woman of the Year, holds the record for the most songs (11), to debut in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 in the chart’s more-than-five-decade history, and also holds the Hot 100 record for most songs by a female artist on the chart in a single week.
Taylor, dubbed “officially the new Mick Jagger” by Vanity Fair and heralded as “a true arena-rock goddess at an amazing peak” in Rolling Stone, is currently on the road with the North American portion of The RED Tour, playing 66 shows (including 13 stadium stops) in 47 cities in 29 states and 3 provinces spanning 6 months in 2013. Just last week it was announced that Taylor will take The RED Tour to Australia and New Zealand later this year, performing stadium shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, as well as an arena date in Auckland. Taylor will be the first solo female artist in twenty years to undertake a national stadium tour of Australia, with the last being Madonna’s Girlie Show tour in 1993. Due to strong fan demand in the initial pre-sales, an additional show has already been added to the previously announced itinerary.
Taylor, who writes all of her own songs, is a seven-time GRAMMY winner, and is the youngest winner in history of the music industry’s highest honor, the GRAMMY Award for Album of the Year. Taylor has an album on Rolling Stone’s prestigious The 50 Greatest Albums of All Time (by women) list, and Time magazine has named her one of the 100 Most Influential people in the world. Taylor, who is signed to Big Machine Records, has career record sales in excess of 26 million albums and 75 million song downloads worldwide, and has had singles top both the country and pop radio charts around the globe.
Taylor is nominated for two CMT Music Awards, which will be presented June 5th from Nashville.
RED album from Taylor Swift is still available on record stores nationwide and online via iTunes under MCA Music in cooperation with SMART, Live More!

The Great Gatsby Soundtrack features the new music of Lana Del Rey, Gotye, Florence + The Machine, Will.I.Am, The XX, Fergie + Q Tip + Goonrock and The Bryan Ferry Orchestra, now available in your favorite record stores.

The movie will be in theaters on 17 May 2013, stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke, Elizabeth Debicki, Amitabh Bachchan and more, official trailer below courtesy of TheHollywoodBird.
The Great Gatsby movie soundtrack encompasses the broad spectrum of musical styles represented in this energetic re-telling of the classic text. Drawing on his unique and unrivalled position in popular culture, JAY Z (with collaborator and the film’s executive music consultant Jeymes Samuel) has worked with Luhrmann and his team on the project over the past two years, translating the Jazz Age sensibility of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel into the musical equivalents of our own times, through the blending of hip-hop, traditional jazz and other contemporary musical textures. Luhrmann stated, “F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel is peppered with contemporary music references specific to the story’s setting of 1922. While we acknowledge, as Fitzgerald phrased it, ‘the Jazz Age,’ and this is the period represented on screen, we—our audience—are living in the ‘hip-hop age’ and want our viewers to feel the impact of modern-day music the way Fitzgerald did for the readers of his novel at the time of its publication.
The Great Gatsby is that classic American story of one’s introduction to extravagance, decadence and illusion. It’s ripe for experimentation and ready to be interpreted with a modern twist. This film’s vision and direction has all the makings of an epic experience,” JAY Z said in a previous statement.
JAY Z’s own “No Church in the Wild,” which he was recording when he and Luhrmann first came together, is included in the film, along with his original “100$ Bill.” The first single to drop is the hauntingly melodious track “Young and Beautiful,” from recent Brit Award winner for Best International Female Solo Artist, Lana Del Rey. Del Rey said, “It was an honor to work with Baz Lurhmann on his amazing adaptation of one of the most extraordinary books ever written. The movie is highly glamorous and exciting; Rick Nowels and I were thrilled to write the song for the film.” Moviegoers will also recognize a few favorites with a new twist, such as Jack White’s interpretation of U2’s “Love Is Blindness,” Beyoncé x André 3000 collaborating on Amy Winehouse’s “Back To Black,” and Bryan Ferry’s new take on a couple of classics: his own “Love Is The Drug,” and, with Emeli Sandé, Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love.” New songs by Florence + The Machine, Lana Del Rey, Nero, will.i.am and The xx were written for scenes in the film, and appear on the soundtrack.
The full track list for “The Great Gatsby” standard soundtrack album is as follows:
1. 100$ Bill - JAY Z
2. Back To Black - Beyoncé x André 3000
3. Bang Bang - will.i.am
4. A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got) - Fergie + Q Tip + GoonRock
5. Young And Beautiful - Lana Del Rey
6. Love Is The Drug - Bryan Ferry with The Bryan Ferry Orchestra
7. Over The Love - Florence + The Machine
8. Where The Wind Blows - Coco O. of Quadron
9. Crazy in Love - Emeli Sandé and The Bryan Ferry Orchestra
10. Together – The xx
11. Hearts A Mess - Gotye
12. Love Is Blindness – Jack White
13. Into the Past - Nero
14. Kill and Run – Sia

It’s amazing how VerJube Photographics has become part of Manila Improv Festival 2013 press launch happened yesterday at The Aristocrat Restaurant, Makati City, we’re very honored to witness the Silly People’s Improv Theater’s (SPIT) performance live. I definitely appreciated SPIT’s improv sneak peek they’ve performed before us:
1. Name something according to the topic (Filipinos are proud of) given alphabetically.

2. Improv singing in a cool reggae beat, topic/wordings related to the previous activity.

3. Create a scene through naming a longest word + subject (something to bring on a travel) for instance: Nakakarimarim + Camera which created a very funny insightful improv.

4. Translated improv, acted out from Vietnamese to English with the topic, rice.

5. The voice of God improv wherein they accomodated a volunteer from the audience.

6. The famous Oracle who answered questions about everything from the audience.

More press launch photos HERE.

I’ve heard about vocal/music improvisation, maybe there are similarities, that’s my general overview. Checkout the vocal improvisation of MUSIKAbataan 2012’s Banjo Gonzales, Rafael Gutierrez and Enzo Mendoza HERE.
At first, I find it difficult to comprehend what improv is all about but after talking to the Artistic Director and founder Gabe Mercado himself as he greeted us inside the venue and explained the basics, history of improv and on how he rededicates himself into the craft inspired by his mentor, I become more interested and enlightened.
Understanding Improvisation
1. It’s 50% actor’s creative performance and 50% audience participation through suggestions which actor’s use as inspiration to create scenes, songs, stories and situations mostly grounding on truth.
2. It’s based on content improvisation within a structure, usually consists of formulated games deviced and culturally rooted, performed depending on the type of audience being performed to. It’s giving a story to movement or the art of weaving scenes into fantastic twists, a journey to move forward.
3. Its spontaneity brings out the fun of the on-the-spot creation. Provides unique, witty and entertaining experience theatrically, not slapstick. Great thing about it is that improv attempts not to make fun of the audience but still prompted a lot of laughter and rapport between the audience and the actors. It’s not the usual stand-up comedy routines and comedies on TV.
4. It fosters trust with a partner wherein it assures that every performers has to look good in every performance and building each other, far more important than stringing up punchlines and jockeying for attention.
5. It’s the ability to become what the scene needs to be acted upon, letting your body direct the act, going with the flow and getting in the spirit of play. Through workshops, improvisation skills can help you become more creative and innovative.

It’s when after I listened to Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo and Rock Maestro Bamboo’s rendition of this song that I appreciated it more than before and admired how Pink produced such great pop songs with rock music influences generally themed about relationships, breakups and the different stages and cases of love. I’ve been listening to her songs then. Just Give Me A Reason has its own amazing hook loaded with righteous raw emotions proving the song’s power to top the charts and iTunes as well. The coronation of “Reason,” which pushes 3-2 on Pop Songs and 24-15 on Adult Contemporary and has spent the past two weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, follows the No. 1 ascent of P!nk’s prior single “Try” on AC two weeks ago. Both songs appear on P!nk’s sixth studio album, “The Truth About Love,” which became her first Billboard 200 No. 1 in September. Full article HERE.
Just Give Me A Reason is Pink’s third single from the Platinum album The Truth About Love since its first release on Sept 2012. Upon researching about this song in You Tube, after listened to many covers of it, I stumble upon the Just Give Me A Reason Behind-The-Scenes video and amzed more about how they produce the intimate bed floating in the water scene. In the video, get to see Pink’s romantic interludes with husband Carey Hart, they really look very in love. Full article HERE.

Rivermaya, the iconic and multi-platinum-selling band makes a local recording scene comeback with the much-awaited release of their album Panatang Makabanda, under Universal Records. The album is their first in four years and their first with Universal Records.

Rivermaya is now composed of Mark Escueta, Norby David, Mike Elgar and Ryan Peralta. Photo above by Universal Records.
Checkout Rivermaya’s album single Pilipinas, Kailan Ka Magigising, penned by founding Rivermaya member Mark Escueta, is reminder to everyone to go against crab mentality, and selfishness, especially now that another elections is within the horizon once again. Video by UniversalRecPH.
Pilipinas, Kailan Ka Magigising has been the group’s initial favorite, one of the band’s fun song to play live and a timely song for the upcoming election. Norby adds, “Hopefully our new record can take the fans to a whole new level and attract more new listeners to our songs and stories. We are all excited for what each of us can bring to the table, and soon to your ears.”
When asked to sum up his Rivermaya journey from 1993 to 2013 founding member Mark says: “One of my firm beliefs is that the best part about being a musician is the PROCESS. If you enjoy the process then all your gigs, songs and albums will be celebrations after a great day at the ‘dream office.’ If the process is messed up, many things can go wrong and it can even end up as a painful experience. It has to be good for everybody, not just one or two. Few people know, and I’m sure a lot of my fellow musicians will agree, that one of the most important things that keeps a band going is something that is not so musical in nature. It’s called laughter. A band that laughs together, stays together. Diyan mayaman ang Rivermaya ngayon, tawanan, pagkakaibigan at bagong musika.”

Callalily’s music can be categorized under the genre alternative-rock. With a hint of pop injected every now and then, their songs are easily appreciated by the public. Seeing music as a part of their lives and as an emotional outlet, Callalily writes songs that directly speak to the audience. Callalily is Kean Cipriano (vocals), Tatsi Jamnague (guitars), Aaron Ricafrente (bass) and Lemuel Belaro (drums).
The resulting 11-track album, Good By Sunday, is described by Tutti as 6cyclemind still heading in a pop-alternative direction, but with an added kick. The most obvious change, of course, is the singing, but it is evident in the album’s overall sound that this is a different 6cyclemind, as Tutti, guitarists Rye Sarmiento and Herbert Hernandez, bassist Bobby Cañamo, and even songwriter/manager Darwin Hernandez really readjusted their sound to perfectly suit their latest incarnation. And with former Protein Shake drummer Vic Aquino officially welcomed into the fold, 6cyclemind version 2.0 is bringing their new sound and live show to wherever there’s an audience eager to experience them.
