CEBUANOS! Catch Baihana tonight, 6pm at the SM Cebu north wing atrium! See you there! :) (Taken with Instagram)

Love, Baihana: Unrivalled Musical Experience
Baihana (Mel Torre, Krina Cayabyab and Anna Achacoso) showed exceptional brilliance in performing onstage and for three consecutive concerts we’ve seen, Love, Baihana was beyond compare. Songs arranged and musically directed by Krina Cayabyab (Baihana).
It’s a rainy evening where you’ll get to see Mr. and Mrs. C accomodating friends and guests approaching the venue, it’s always nice to see happy faces of invitees inside. Spotted musicians John Lesaca & Boy Katindig, actress Roxanne Barcelo, songwriter Trina Belamide and director Johnny Manahan were present in the concert held in Music Museum last 24 Aug 2012.

We are totally Baihana-ized with the songs pertaining to L-O-V-E which Baihana has performed: Fly Me To The Moon, Mr. Sandman, Lanca Perfume, The Nearness Of You, Here There and Everywhere, Just The Way You Are, Time And Tide, Sunday Morning, Love Somebody Yes I Do, Where Is The Love, What I Did For Love, I Believe In Love and Kissed The Girl Goodbye. Awit Ng Maykapal, Talk To Me and Isaw were the originals and the most sought-after OPM covers like Gary Granada’s Mabuti Pa Sila, Gary V’s Sana Maulit Muli, Leah Navarro’s Ligaw-tingin, Mr. C’s Limang Dipang Tao, APO’s Yakap Sa Dilim and the well-applauded acapella version of Zia Quizon’s Ako Na Lang were also performed in the concert.
Baihana’s jazz and bebop prowess, unbelievable vocal harmony and virtuoso live performance is proudly Filipino pride. Yes, you have them here in the Philippines!
More photos from the Love, Baihana concert HERE. I wish the stage is well-lighted,  making it a more attractive to shoot with and create better photographs.
Vocal male trio Banjo (Banjo Gonzales), Enzo (Lorenzo Mendoza) and Pael (Rafael Gutierrez) supported Baihana with songs like Come Fly With Me, They Can’t Take That Away From Me, I Got You Under My Skin, I Only Have Eyes For You. Showcasing the trio’s wit and humor is their vocal improvisation set using the words that audience suggested: Marshmallow, Talangka, Popcorn and Bubblegum (a kid request). They shared the stage with Baihana in the song After The Love Has Gone of Earth, Wind and Fire.
The outstanding members of the band who accompanied Baihana in creating such great music were namely James Sace (keyboards), Joshua Royeca (bass), Tim Cada (guitars) and Karmi Santiago (drums).
Here’s a proof of how awesome Baihana is onstage, Mr. Sandman, Limang Dipang Tao and Time & Tide, video courtesy of Mark Will Magallanes.

The best way to spend a Friday night over an upcoming long weekend is through music harmonized by vocal trio Baihana composed of Anna Achacoso, Krina Cayabyab and Mel Torre. You will not just be fascinated with the trio’s jazz and bebop prowess but sure you’ll end up Baihana-ized for L-O-V-E.

Love as their theme, they will present the different stages of love and relationships onstage with their concert entitled Love, Baihana and they will be introducing their new original songs like “What I Did For Love,” and “I Believe In Love” among others. “Talk to Me”, also an original song that was performed in the 1st Boy Katindig Songwriting and Jazz Band competition winning themselves the Best Jazz Band, with Krina Cayabyab as the Best Vocal Instrument and Arrangement awardee, and eventually representing the country in Malaysia for the World Youth Jazz Festival next year.

So why not embrace the chance to be with these talented young ladies in a classy performance, mainly something new and outstanding and to be able to let yourself experience what the passion for music is. Good times!

Baihana is a jazz/pop/bebop vocal trio composed of Anna Achacoso (Soprano 2), Krina Cayabyab (Soprano 1) and Melinda Torre (Alto).

Baihana is derived from the Cebuano term that roughly translates to “Babae” or “Girl”. The driving charm that is the act of Baihana is derived from a mix of feminine humor and era jazz music. Influences of the Andrew Sisters, the Chordettes, and many other great jazz vocal groups are signature in Baihana’s music. These girls, however, are beyond just the music. Baihana is about fun, and each girl brings in their own personality into the mix to produce an act of wholesome but sometimes mischievous entertainment. More about Baihana HERE

Baihana’s video invitation on the show, come and watch!

Formed in May 2008, Baihana is a young all-girl jazz trio that performs, creates and arranges songs that are uniquely refreshing and harmonious especially to the Filipino audience.

Heard “Mamang Sorbetero” when I left home for office this morning which reminds me of posting this VJP spotted photo of the talent behind this song. Click HERE to be able to listen to the song and reminisce.

By the way, that’s Basil Valdez in the background.

It goes..♫♪
mamang Sorbetero, Tayo’y Sumayaw
kalembang Mong Hawak, Muling Ikaway
batang Munti, Sa ‘yo’y Naghihintay
bigyang Ligaya Ngayong Tag-araw
 ♫♪

Her song reminds me of childhood memories, thank you for this artist’s excellent music abilities. And because my friend Hoshi loves sorbetes mucho, I dedicate this post for her. ;)
