We didn’t know Johnoy will be performing in Kina Grannis’ In Your Arms World Tour held in Teatrino last 08 Aug 2012 until we’ve seen his album displayed in Teatrino’s front door when we arrived. He opened the stage for Kina Grannis. We had a hard time deciding to cover the event or not because of the bad weather and flood that hit the country recently. He invited the audience to buy his album because the proceeds of it that night will be rewarded and will be given to Red Cross, his simple way of helping the flood victims and the needy as he deeply sympathized with the country’s recent tragedy. He sang Dapithapon which is his first single in the album of the same title, narrated how he has written the song and telling that it’s a song about moving-on. “Pagbigyan” and “Ikaw at Ako” were mong the original songs he performed. He also sang “Yellow” and “Fix You,” covers from Coldplay and Snow Patrol’s “Chasing Cars.”  VerJube is a proud owner of Johnoy Danao’s music. Dapithapon has 12 tracks, an album blended with Johnoy’s songwriting prowess, original easy-listening sound and powerhouse collaborations. His passion for music is very notable in his performances and the album itself. Songs in the album were written by Johnoy Danao and guitarist Sammy Asuncion. Cancelled Kina Grannis' Tour in Manila

Due to overwhelming feedback from Kina Grannis fans in regards to the timing of her show in Manila on March 15, Soulmanna has decided to postpone Kina’s show until a later date. We will make an announcement in the coming weeks in regards to a new date, but we assure you it will not conflict with exam periods. All ticket holders for the March 15th show at the Meralco Theater will be given a full refund. Despite the postponement, Kina will still be at the theater at 8pm and conduct a FREE meet & greet for those who had tickets to her show. Refund will be given in cash to the ticket-holders who attend the meet & greet. Ticket-holders who are not present can get their refund via Ticket World. Kina will perform a handful of songs unplugged as well as take pictures and sign autographs for all ticket-holders. Merchandise will also be available. 



Soulmanna Live would like to extend their sincerest apologies to Kina and Kina’s fans for what has been an unfortunate and regrettable combination of oversights in the scheduling and promoting of this show. We very much value the artists we work with and the relationships they maintain with their fans. We will ensure this situation will not repeat itself and we look forward to announcing a new Kina Grannis show in the very near future.

Still glad to hear Kina Grannis in the radio (94.7 Mellow Touch) this morning plus a live streaming in Magic 89.9, after I received a text message from her production team last night that her scheduled concert today will be postponed to another full concert date.


Kina will still be at the Meralco Theatre tonight (8pm) to those ticket holders for some unplugged performances and special meet and greet. Everyone will be issued refunds for their tickets in the venue or via TicketWorld.

But between those who travel across state and country lines to her sold out live shows and those navigating through her extensive library of YouTube videos, it’s quite clear that Kina is hardly playing for no one.

 

Since the original release of Stairwells, Kina continued to super-serve her ever-loyal following. She spent much of 2010 on the road, headlining venues across North America, performing sold out shows at Los Angeles’ Troubadour and El Rey Theater and New York City’s Highline Ballroom, spending hours after each and every show signing autographs for, taking pictures with and talking to anyone in attendance. On April 5th, 2011 Kina released a remixed and remastered version of Stairwells, this time in stores and internationally. This new version of Stairwells includes fan-favorites “Valentine” and “Message From Your Heart”. The following week Stairwells once again debuted on Billboard’s Top 200 and #2 on its New Artist/Heatseekers chart and follow-up single “the One You Say Goodnight To” premiered and debuted #2 at MTV.com (behind only Beyonce).

 

On November 3, Kina released her video for “In Your Arms,” a song from her album Stairwells. A whopping 22 months in the making, the video is a staggering product of creativity, patience and execution. The Greg Jardin-directed stop-motion clip features 288,000 Jelly Belly jellybeans – and 1 Kina Grannis – captured with 1 still camera over 2,460 frames. To call the video a success would be an understatement, as “In Your Arms” has arguably become the artist’s most polarizing achievement, a lofty claim for someone whose first music video found airtime during Super Bowl XLII. Accruing more than 3.5 million YouTube views in just over 3 weeks, “In Your Arms” earned Kina and interview and performance on the aforementioned Ellen Degeneres show, an iTunes Music Video of The Week and features on The Today Show, Good Morning America, Billboard, Mashable, Entertainment Weekly, E! News, CNN’s Showbiz Insider, Inside Edition, The Huffington Post, Yahoo!, and MTV, among dozens of other television, internet and video outlets. Consequently, the track rocketed to #1 on iTunes Singer Songwriter Chart, while Stairwells reached #2 on the same chart and reappeared on Billboard’s New Artist/Heatseekers Chart, ascending as high as #4 overall.

I noticed Kina Grannis when @goddessofstrawberries posted a video of her and started to look for her songs that same moment.

And now I’m a Kina Grannis fan now! ;) Loved her cover versions and her original compositions of course! She’s a fantastic songwriter! Loved her style in singing too.
