I felt excited when Hotdog band frontman Rene Garcia announced Yeng Constantino to perform onstage, thought of watching Yeng in a spectacular collaboration with Pinoy folk rock vocalist of Asin Lolita Carbon and that I’ll be seeing myself yelling for joy.
But I guess, it’s not yet the time for me to witness a wondrous production number as what I expected. It didn’t happen. But what’s nice to see is the admiration of Yeng (while singing along with the song) to THE Lolita Carbon’s performance of “Himig ng Pag-ibig,” an Asin original and which was also covered by Yeng in her 2nd album “Journey. ” Yes, It happened at the Rockin’ The Roots concert in Music Museum last night.

ASIN was the first group to incorporate Filipino indigenous instruments into pop/rock music, formed in 1977. There are only 4 members of ASIN including Lolita “Nene” Carbon, Mike “Nonoy” Pillora, Cesar “Saro” Bañares (+) and Pendong Aban, Jr., others are all session musicians. They popularized the songs Masdan mo ang Kapaligiran, Himig ng Pag-ibig, Pagbabalik and Balita among others.
