Julie Anne - Elmo: Great On-Screen Performers and Musical Partners
It’s great to see Elmo Magalona performing with Julie Anne San Jose once again in It’s My Time concert held last 11 May 2013 in Music Museum, but maybe not enough to satisfy fans who were always longing to see their performance together. They’re extraordinary, you can’t just ignore them live even if its your first time to watch them. It’s a night filled with music and romance which appeared very genuine on-screen that fans couldn’t contain, witnessed all their crazy loud screams and excitement inside the venue. They really compliment each other specially when they’re in element like in the Wazak Medley performance. My photo posted was a proof but sharing you as well the video below courtesy of MegaKath19.
With an outstanding musicality which ranges from pop, hip-hop and dance music to high-note showdowns, I’m lucky to experience the famous Wazak Love Story in a medley, originally a Shakespeare-inspired musical.
Here’s a sample of the Wazak Lovestory at Paty Pilipinas, video by MrJoshcon23.
JuliElmo started experimental and unexpected at the Sunday afternoon variety show Party Pilipinas and the GMA show Together Forever until it became really popular. They maybe young, but their constant togetherness on-screen, music and having a solid fan base proved great magic in this partnership.
Looking forward to the JuliElmo concert soon! Who’s with me?

Callalily’s music can be categorized under the genre alternative-rock. With a hint of pop injected every now and then, their songs are easily appreciated by the public. Seeing music as a part of their lives and as an emotional outlet, Callalily writes songs that directly speak to the audience. Callalily is Kean Cipriano (vocals), Tatsi Jamnague (guitars), Aaron Ricafrente (bass) and Lemuel Belaro (drums).
The resulting 11-track album, Good By Sunday, is described by Tutti as 6cyclemind still heading in a pop-alternative direction, but with an added kick. The most obvious change, of course, is the singing, but it is evident in the album’s overall sound that this is a different 6cyclemind, as Tutti, guitarists Rye Sarmiento and Herbert Hernandez, bassist Bobby Cañamo, and even songwriter/manager Darwin Hernandez really readjusted their sound to perfectly suit their latest incarnation. And with former Protein Shake drummer Vic Aquino officially welcomed into the fold, 6cyclemind version 2.0 is bringing their new sound and live show to wherever there’s an audience eager to experience them.

Soul Adventurer: Franco Reyes’ Recognition to Good Vibes
Franco who’s famous for his rock alternative music with reggae fusion, owned songs of distinct guitar riffs representing his signature sound evident in his Soul Adventurer album, launched at the solo concert in Music Museum. Provided an inviting fine tune and a music influence spreading good vibrations driving his fans and listeners an amazing rocksteady support.
Franco Reyes’ Soul Adventurer The Solo Concert delivered a high energy and feel-good vibes, bring people together because of the rewarding music and ending up raving for more Franco music after. More photos HERE.
Soul Adventurer is Franco’s musical journey, a comeback after the 2010 release. Its a 17-track album, recorded with no all-star line-up and supported by musicians Paul Canada, Victor Guison and Dave Elfin. The song Drifter has a laid back vibe with the wave sound on it, Better Days and Renewal also had some cool island beats. Checkout his carrier single Better Days, its beautiful music video shot in Baler featuring surfboards, beach, waves and good times. Video below by mcamusic.
He explained, “That song talks about life experiences that everyone can relate to and how we can make everything positive despite the negativity we encounter daily, on how we can find inner peace and finding our true selves and true purpose in the midst of chaos, and that is to spread love, peace and harmony with everything around us. ‘Soul adventurer’ is like a self-journey to finding what the meaning of our lives and finding inner peace.”
For Franco the second track “To Survive” best represents the mood of the album. “To survive/ we pick up all the pieces to survive/ We learn from all our mistakes to make it magical, less visual,” its about getting the most out of life.
Here’s the live version of Better Days performed at Soul Adventurer The Solo concert, video by DDreMolina.

MYX Music Awards 2013: An insight to my experience
by Ruby Alvez
“This is awesome!!!”
It’s the first phrase that popped in my head when I was finally inside the Music Museum to witness the annually held MYX Music Awards. (Well, minus the run-in with the security people. haha!)
I have never been in this “kind” of event, ever before and I was thankful that my friend invited me to come and experience it firsthand. I was truly hesitant at first (and I even mistook it for another day!), but then I thought, “What the heck, right? It should be fun.” And fun (and more), it is, indeed.
MYX Music Awards, already on its 8th year, is one of the music industry’s award-giving body in the Philippines, which honors the country’s biggest hitmakers — by giving the viewers the power to decide the winners themselves in 19 categories through SMS and online voting.
The theme of the night was the 80’s and it was great to see some of the artists joining the bandwagon and dressed up for the occasion, led by the VJs themselves who were, I must say, all fabulous.
Beatbox Philippines (who were such scene-stealers!), Yeng Constantino, Princess Velasco, Robin Nievera, Sam Concepcion, Anja Aguilar, KZ Tandingan, Zendee, Kean Cipriano and Elmo Magalona jumpstarted the night by performing the nominees for the Favorite Song category. We also got a taste of Abra’s rapping ingenuity by performing with Rhay Ty, Jose Amarra and Quest. And of course, a taste of the 80’s via the Neocolours and Menudo’s “If You’re Not Here” with a twist – not only on the song, but the hilarious costume as well – by Kamikazee, Hilera, and Typecast.
But the highlight of my night was the tribute to the MYXMagna Awardee for 2013 – Ms. Lea Salonga.
I had the once-in-a-lifetime chance of watching Lea Salonga when she comprised her role as ‘Kim’ in the well-loved musical ‘Miss Saigon’ when it was brought here in the Philippines back in 2001. The first musical I ever watched in my life. And the moment I became a fan of Lea Salonga.
Julie Ann San Jose sang “I Am But A Small Voice”; Erik Santos and K-La Rivera, “A Whole New World”; Juris and Richard Poon, “We Could Be In Love”; Nikki Gil, “Reflection”; and Christian Bautista & Rachelle Ann Go, “Sun And Moon” from the musical “Miss Saigon” were among those who performed to honor Lea Salonga with renditions of her popular songs and then came together to sing “Tagumpay Nating Lahat”. On a side note, it was delightful to see Lea giggling like a teenager at the sight of Christian Bautista and Rachelle Ann Go singing together.
The internationally acclaimed artist — with a 35-year career to boot — had this to say to those who aspire to join the music industry, “Have an effin’ time doing this. Love this more than anything else. There can be nothing else. If you have the passion, you belong here.”
Gloc-9 was the biggest winner of the night by bagging three (3) of the awards – Favorite Song (Sirena with Ebe Dancel), Favorite MYX Live! Performance and Favorite Collaboration (Sirena with Ebe Dancel). Sarah Geronimo, Julie Anne San Jose and Abra claimed two awards each, while Christian Bautista, Yeng Constantino and Daniel Padilla were named Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Female Artist and Favorite New Artist, respectively. Below are the complete list of winners.
It was a stellar night. A wonderful experience I would love to repeat. It may be lacking on some parts (more preparation, maybe? and better artists attendance, perhaps? But generally, I think it was a success. And whoever said that OPM is dead is dead wrong. It will never die. Seeing the influx of artists – the old and the new – still striving to contribute their earnest talents, I believe that the music industry in the Philippines has come such a long way.

The Von Trapps’ Music: A Glimpse of Austria
Watching The Sound of Music movie over and over again is an endearing experience at all times, a film based on the real Von Trapp Family of Austria. But watching the great grandchildren of Baron George Ritter von Trapp and his first wife Agathe von Trapp on live performance is indeed another awesome musical experience.
JAMS, a quartet also known as Justin, Amanda, Melanie and Sofia (The Von Trapp Children) has visited the Phillippines for a series of concerts produced by Steve O’Neal Productions.
We spend a whole night of timeless musical pieces from the original Sound of Music Broadway musical like Do Re Mi, Sound of Music, Lonely Goatherd, Favorite Things, Edelweiss and So Long Farewell. The Von Trapps performed the song entitled Dream A Little Dream and some variety of folk and classical songs from various European and American traditions like Die Dorfmusik (A Traditional Austrian Song), Alemande (from the French word for German, one of the most popular instrumental dance forms in Baroque music ~wikipedia), Hayaldah Hachi Yafa Bagan (A Hebrew Song) and Rwanda Nziza (a capella, also known as Beautiful Rwanda which has been the national anthem of Rwanda ~wikipedia). They also shared an exceptional harmonic blend of musical talents in the following Christmas songs: Carol of the Bells (based on a folk chant known in Ukrainian as “Shchedryk”) Jingle Bells„ Winter Wonderland and Silent Night.
Their rendition of Pinoy song Ang Bayan Ko was pretty impressive, be sure to watch this video of the song courtesy of VerJube Photographics.
You can also checkout The Von Trapp’s Crying Bloody Water’s music video, a song written by Justin. Video courtesy of Jan Smith.
It’s one of the greatest night we have in Music Museum this 2012. We’re grateful and honored for the chance of meeting these great artists. I think, it will also be nice to post The Von Trapp’s after concert photo ops, what do you think? ;)
It’s our second time and second year attending the Music Museum Group, Inc.’s MMFF-inspired Christmas party and we’re blessed to be part of their family. This year, we’re glad to celebrate it with the MMGI’s President Precy Florentino sharing inspiring words of wisdom in her speech.
It’s not only that we have shared sumptuous food for dinner and employee’s receiving raffle prizes, we also learned 3 things in company festivity that night:
1. Nobody lives this world alive.
2. Share your blessings.
3. Believe in the power of prayers.
It’s a delightful inspirational Christmas cerebrations that we should focus on the eternal and on what is essential. The President also shared on what are the things she learned for and thankful for this 2012. Briefly she answered, as I find asking myself too sentimental after.
I learned that loving your work matters. As for VerJube, designing and photography makes us happy. I learned how to be debt-free or it’s always worth it to completely pay off debt. Save money first when you need to purchase something. Travel when you can. Possibilities are endless. I learn to be with people who knows my worth. We don’t need a lot of people to be happy, just few real ones who appreciates us for who we are. I get to listen to lots of music and try different types throughout the day. I learned to be a responsible social media user. Think before you click. I celebrate life because it is a gift. Optimism will get us far. I learned that I dont need negative vibes at all. I should never stop learning and continue to improve more to learning skills. And I learned that the only real responsibility we have in life is to be happy inspite and despite of difficulties. All these and more.
VerJube Photographics is thankful for our families, friends and people who believed in us to our journey in 2012. We’re thankful for the music and the ability to interpret and be able to publish it here on blog. We were blessed to experience a lot of first times because of music. We will always thrive on accomplishing goals and looking forward to good health this coming year.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to our Tumblr friends and to everyone anywhere in the world.
